Kamran MC is an inspiration for all young make up artists as she proves that talent knows no age and no limits. This 20 year old artist from Maryland, US, is emblematic of the refreshing takes we can have with makeup. Kamran's work is fluid and inviting, and she executes it with elegance. We caught up with this talented artist as she spoke to us about her dreams, inspirations and her favourite products.
Q: Your work appears to have no limits, from painting to makeup. How did you build yourself up to this level of creativity and uniqueness?
A: I definitely practice and enjoy exploring all genres of art. It took me years to build myself up to this point. By venturing into different mediums, styles, and expression I've expanded my creativity and uniqueness.
Q: What do you feel makeup allows you to express?
A: My makeup allows me to express unconventional beauty and enhanced features. It allows me to show others just how gorgeous things in the world can really be.
Q: Some of your best works are inspired by anime and Studio Ghibli, what do you think is special about that art form?
A: What's so special about it is that it's filled with so much magic and as a kid I always wanted to immerse myself in those fantasy worlds. So now, being able to use my makeup skills to create that, I'm living my dream and bringing that joy to others as well.
Q: Has make-up art always been something you’ve wanted to do or have been interested in?
A: I have always been interested in makeup art but never dreamed I would have the skills to do it myself. I had a difficult time figuring out what career path I wanted to take, but once I gave makeup a try, I immediately fell in love with this world of creativity and endless possibilities.
Q: Are there any products you feel you just would not be able to achieve your looks without?
A: Yes! I have two must-have products which are the Claropsyche eyeshadow palettes (Psyche's box & Realfantasy), and all kinds of glitter from Glitter Palace. Those two always add a special shine and fantasy feel to my looks.
Q: What message are you sending to your audience with your work?
A: The message I try to send to my fans is to always live your dreams, no matter how bizarre, weird or strange it may seem to others. As long as you feel happy in what you are doing, then that is truly beautiful!
Q: Does your base stay the same for all of your looks? What is your favourite base product?
A: For the most part, yes. Some of my favourite base products are the Milk Hydro Grip Primer, Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, and e.l.f Powder Blush Palette.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: In 10 years I see myself being a successful makeup artist/model, and perhaps have my own makeup brand as well.
Q: Describe your style in 3 words.
A: Ethereal, fantasy, and unpredictable.
Q: What are some words of advice you would give to young make up artists?
A: Be your best authentic self! Don't let negativity and self-doubt get to you. As long as you love what you do, then that's all that matters!
